The Matchbox Caterham Superlight R500 is a unique, open-air British sports car die-cast model originally released by Mattel in 2009. It is highly regarded by collectors as one of the few true lightweight kit-car silhouettes ever made in the 1:64 scale Matchbox lineup. The model was originally suggested and designed by legendary Hot Wheels designer Ryu Asada after he watched the real-world car set a blistering lap time on the Top Gear test track.
