The Matchbox Batmobile is a rare, highly collectible 1:64 scale diecast car produced by Mattel between 2012 and 2014. Unlike Hot Wheels, which has produced dozens of unique Batman vehicle designs over several decades, this specific casting is historically significant as the only true Batmobile design ever officially released under the Matchbox brand name.
Instead of replicating a famous live-action cinematic vehicle, Matchbox based its model on the "Total Destruction Batmobile". This design originally debuted as a large, chunky plastic toy accessory within Mattel's Batman Power Attack action figure line in 2011. When scaled down to miniature 1:64 size for the Matchbox line, designers gave it sleek, realistic proportions, complete with a distinctive bat-head ram on the front grille and aggressive rear fins.
