The Matchbox Collectibles Elvis Presley Drive-In Collection is a highly sought-after series of 1:64 scale die-cast diorama sets released by Mattel in 2002. Following the massive success of the 2001 Graceland Collection, this second series shifts focus away from the King's personal garage to the classic cars and scenes featured in his iconic Hollywood movies.
Unlike standard blister-pack toy cars, each model in this collection comes housed inside a premium, stackable plexiglass display showcase.
The Backdrop: Each display features a retro drive-in movie theater screen backdrop complete with a cardboard "Elvis in the Stars" marquee.
Moving Pictures: A distinct mechanical feature allows the drive-in screen to display a shifting "moving picture" scene taken directly from that specific vehicle's movie.
The Construction: The vehicles and the detailed base plates are securely screwed down inside the display case to preserve their positioning.
